My Pretty Mini Quilt Published!

I'm so pleased to announce that my pretty mini quilt "I 💗 Quilting" has been published in "Miniature Quilts: 12 Tiny Projects That Make a Big Impression" by Leisure Arts.

I Heart Quilting
I 💗 Quilting by Monica Curry

This quilt was created with Tula Pink's gorgeous Pinkerville fabric line. The pattern is a great sampler for beginners. It has five traditional blocks and a simple foundation paper pieced (FPP) heart that would be a good introduction too this FPP. I will be sending an update to all my subscribers when the pattern becomes available in my Pattern Store.

Moroccan Tile Mini Quilt

I used to do mosaic art years ago and still appreciate this beautiful art form. Moroccan mosaic tilework is my favourite type of mosaic art because it reminds me of elaborate quilts. I've always wanted to replicate this art style in fabric and this year I finally did. The result is my newest pattern, Moroccan Tile Mini Quilt. This pattern may look a bit complicated but it really is simple, even for beginners. All straight cuts and no templates required! Go to my link to learn how to create a flange binding aka faux piping for the project.

Precious Bundle Baby Quilt now Charm Pack friendly!

One of the first quilt patterns I ever designed was the Precious Bundle baby quilt. That was five years ago. But, for whatever reason, I didn't design it for precuts. I'll chalk that up to inexperience.

For 2020, I redesigned this gorgeous baby quilt for charm packs. I'm hoping this will make it easier for even the most novice quilter. The only fabrics you will now need to make the Precious Bundle quilt top is one print charm pack, one solid white charm pack, and 1¼ yard white. How simple is that?!

Pixel Beach Mini Quilt

Inspired by a day at the beach, Pixel Beach is a simple and elegant quilted wall hanging in a checkerboard of neutral tones. What a lovely addition to your summer beach house. Think warm summer sand, collecting pretty stones and sea glass on the shore while the gulls singing overhead. These were my inspirations for my new mini quilt pattern Pixel Beach.

Postage stamp doll quilt

I love postage stamp quilts; they're great stash busters. I made this doll quilt for my grandniece, Abby, who just had a new baby brother. I made her mom my Precious Bundle pinwheel quilt for the new arrival, and my sister and I thought it would be nice to make a quilt for Abby's baby doll as well.

To make this quilt, I used a great piecing technique I found at So Resourceful, a blog with some great sewing posts. This technique makes piecing all those little squares a breeze. See the tutorial HERE

Make Perfect Pinwheels Every Time!

I love the pinwheel block. It’s a timeless classic that can easily be incorporated into traditional as well as modern quilt designs, but piecing all those little triangles is a pain. Below is a quick method for making any size Pinwheel block you need.

FORMULA FOR QUICK PINWHEELS

Note: The finished block size is the size of the block after the quilt is finished.
  1. Determine the finished block size, e.g. 6 inches
  2. Divide the finished block size by 1.41. (6 ÷ 1.41 = 4.25)
  3. Add this result to 0.875 (4.25 + 0.875 = 5.13)
  4. Round up the above result to the nearest 0.125 inches. (5.13 + 0.125 = 5.25")
  5. The parent size squares will be 5.25"
  6. Square up your block to the correct unfinished size (finished size plus 1/2")

    Precious Bundle Baby Quilt Pattern

My Precious Bundle baby quilt pattern is now CHARM PACK FRIENDLY!

I designed this sweet little quilt some time ago and finally finished it this week. I love shabby chic and used some beautiful retro-style fabrics from Connecting Threads called Line Dried by Mama's Cottons. The fabric design was perfect for this quilt. It's going to be a gift for a very special someone.
